Install Sample Database For BIDS

Today I will tell you how to Install Sample Database For BIDS . We use the AdventureWorksLT database instance as the data source for the reports we created in this tutorial.

The AdventureWorksLT database was chosen because it is small, and the SQL Server 2008 database instance requires Full-Text Search to be installed, the SQL Full-Text Filter Daemon service running, and FILESTREAM enabled.

Because these requirements only add to the workload, we plan to use an older database instance.

The AdventureWorksLT database is available for download at the following link on the Code Plex site: Microsoft SQL Server Product Samples: Database – Release: SQL Server 2005 SP2a. Click on the appropriate AdventureWorksLT link to download the program for your SQL Server environment: AdventureWorksLT.msi, AdventureWorksLT_x64.msi, or AdventureWorksLT_IA64.msi

After downloading the appropriate version of the installer, double-click the .msi file to run it. do. You enter the location of the folder to place the database files and tags. To install the default SQL Server 2008, the folder to be selected is:

C: \ Program Files \ Microsoft SQL Server \ MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER \ MSSQL \ DATA

If you did not accept the default position during SQL Server 2008 installation, you can set the folder. When the installer is complete, you must attach the database to the SQL Server database engine. Open SQL Server Management Studio, enter Object Explorer, right-click Databases, and then click Attach from the menu that appears.

The Attach Databases dialog is displayed, click the Add button and enter the AdventureWorksLT_Data.mdf file in the position you specified when running the installer, as shown below:

Then click Ok to attach the database.
